Civil ProcedureAs an associate at Koob & Magoolaghan for six years, Professor Reinert focused on prisoners’ rights, employment discrimination, and disability rights. In 2006, he was a finalist for the Trial Lawyers for Public Justice Trial Lawyer of the Year Award for his work as lead counsel on
Elmaghraby v. Ashcroft. Upon graduating from law school, he held two clerkships, first with the Hon. Harry T. Edwards, DC Circuit Court of Appeals, and then with United States Supreme Court Justice Stephen G. Breyer. Professor Reinert conducts research in the areas of constitutional law, civil procedure, and the relationship between science and the law. His articles have appeared in the
Stanford
Law Review,
the
University of Illinois Law
Review, and the
American Journal of Epidemiology, among
other journals.
Professor Reinert recently argued before the Supreme Court in
Ashcroft v. Iqbal, a case which implicates the ability of civil rights plaintiffs to hold high level officials accountable for constitutional violations.
