Mid-February:  Graduation information memo posted on Angel (with notice of posting sent to you via Angel email), regarding remaining requirements, applications for concentrations, tickets, etc. 

February 5, 6pm: OCS 3L Job Search program, a program to assist 3Ls refocus on the ongoing job search process.

February 14, 6pm: OCS Intellectual Property Law Forum. This table-talk forum will provide students interested in working in intellectual property law with the opportunity to meet with practicing attorneys and entrepreneurs.

February 19, 6pm: OCS Opportunities in International Law. This is an opportunity for students to meet with attorneys practicing in various areas of international law in a table-talk setting.

February 20, noon:  3L Section Reunion for students who were in sections ABCD and H as first-semester 1Ls.

February 16, 7pm: OCS Tales from the Trenches: Tips on the Post-Graduate Job Search. Alumni share their stories, tips, and strategies with 3Ls and LLMs on obtaining legal opportunities.

March:  NJ Bar Application becomes available. Look for email announcement from the Registrar.

March 4, noon:  Post-graduate Judicial Clerkship Informational Session.  The Judicial Clerkship Committee will explain the process of applying for post-graduate positions with Judges

March 4, 6pm: OCS Small and Mid-Sized Firm Forum. This is an opportunity for students to meet with attorneys practicing in a broad range of practice areas at mid-sized and smaller firms in a table-talk setting.

March 6, noon: “What You Should Know About the NY State Bar Exam” - Bryan Williams, member of the NYS Board of Law Examiners and bar exam grader will present information on how the exam is graded.  Cardozo Registrar, Isabel Balson, will also be on hand to answer questions.

March 6, 6pm:  A panel of Cardozo Alumni Judicial Clerks will speak about their experiences clerking in state and federal courts. 

March 11, noon:  3L Section Reunion for students who were in sections EFG and May-entry as first-semester 1Ls.

March 11, 6:30pm: Working in New Jersey Panel and Networking Reception. This is an opportunity for students to listen to and network with alumni and non-alumni representatives from public and private sector employers who work in the Garden State.

March 20, noon:  Q& A with Isabel Balson, Registrar, and Emily Ackerman, Director of Special Events, regarding graduation, JD concentrations and bar applications. Notary services will be available for the NJ bar application.

April 1:  NY State Bar Application becomes available.  Watch for an email announcement from the Registrar.

April 5:  For LLM students, deadline to apply for concentration in General Studies program.  Watch for information from Dean Sugin.

April 5:  For JD students, deadline to apply for optional concentration for June graduates.  Watch for email announcement of graduation memo posted to Angel for more information and application form

April 5:  Deadline for students studying for the bar in NYC to register to retain use of locker.  Watch for email announcement of graduation memo posted to Angel for more information.

April 9, 5:30pm: Post-Graduate Public Service Bridge to Practice Fellowship Information Session. This program is an opportunity to inform and educate 3Ls about the Fellowship program that provides funding for short-term public service employment following the bar examination.

April 10:  LLM Lunch and Learn with Amy Sugin, Assistant Dean; Isabel Balson, Registrar; and Emily Ackerman, Director of Special Events regarding graduation.

April 11:  2013 Class Gift Party and New Alumni Event -- kick-off for pre-graduation festivities; recent graduates and administrators will be on hand to discuss the Alumni Association and ways for you to stay involved with Cardozo.

April 14, 16, 18, and 21: The Business of Law CLE Seminar. This four-day program will discuss the management and operation of a successful law practice. 3Ls may attend for free.

April 15, noon:  Graduation Speak-Off ; students wishing to be the student graduation speaker give speeches and graduating class votes to select finalist. 

April 15-22: Application period on Symplicity for JDs to apply for Cardozo’s Bridge to Practice Post-Graduate Fellowship. Application deadline: April 22 at 11:59pm.

Late April (dates/times TBD):  Office of Student Finance programming:

  • A student loan Exit Counseling information email will be sent to all students, and will contain a step-by-step guide to the exiting process, and will provide a variety of helpful student loan related resources 
  • Mandatory online Exit Counseling for federal student loans (Stafford and Graduate PLUS)
  • Mandatory paper Exit Counseling for institutional loans (Cardozo YU Loans & Perkins)
  • Student Loan Repayment Exit Sessions (it is strongly recommended that you attend one of these sessions if you have student loans)
  • One-on-One Exit Counseling Meeting (you will have the opportunity to schedule a personal meeting with the Director of Student Finance)
  • Loan History Statement (you will have the opportunity to request a detailed loan history summery)
  • Currently Available:  Cardozo’s Debt Management website for important information on budgeting, loan repayment (including IBR & PAYE), loan forgiveness (including PSLF and Cardozo’s LRAP), and other helpful details.

April 28: Deadline to inform the Office of Special Events if you will not be attending the Commencement Ceremony.

April/May: Mandatory Exit Meeting with the Office of Career Services (specific scheduling procedure will be announced in the Daily Vitamin); you must complete this meeting prior to receiving your cap and gown for graduation.

May 1: Deadline to submit NJ and NY Bar Certificates to the Registrar’s Office.

May 1:  End of Semester LL.M. Celebration

May 6-10:  Cap and Gown Distribution; watch for graduation memo for specific hours

May 28:  Pre-graduation celebrations at Cardozo
