Monetizing Free and Open Source Software

Date

April 29, 2014 - 6:00pm to 7:30pm

"A new model of production has taken root, one that should not be there." The words of Yochai Benkler thus described Free Software, a model of production not only unfamiliar to the Intellectual Property world, but to economics at large.

While Free Software is often written by communities with no profit incentives, there is no reason this powerful model cannot be monetized. In this event, we will present a variety of models by which Free Software can be monetized, with insights from a variety of organizations.
