June 13, 2013 - Professor Daniel Ravicher, executive director of the Public Patent Foundation (PUBPAT) at Cardozo Law, won a major victory in the Supreme Court. The Court ruled that human genes cannot be patented for diagnostic testing. His landmark case against Myriad Genetics centered around two human genes associated with breast and ovarian cancer. Professor Ravicher said the case "puts an end to patent blocking on genetic testing."
