I am proud to introduce the revised Cardozo alumni newsletter. This new format will have more substance, both in articles written by alumni, and in stories and pictures about alumni events. Each edition of the Quarterly will have a theme related to an upcoming Cardozo event or a major legal issue.

The theme of this first edition is Family Law, and features articles by Jay Butterman ’88, Marilyn Chinitiz ’81, Dror Bikel ’92 , and Frederic Siegel ’82, who are all matrimonial and family law specialists. This edition is linked to the theme of the Cardozo Alumni Association Annual Meeting, Cardozo Couples. The meeting will be November 12th at Cardozo. This year’s Annual Meeting, to which all alumni are of course invited, will focus on those alumni who met their spouse, significant other or life partner while at law school. We will celebrate the special impact that Cardozo has had on the lives of these alumni and their families. We will also have an Executive Committee business meeting, elect new officers and representatives, present the Young Leadership and Volunteer Service awards and hear from Vice Dean Edward Stein on important topics in Family Law. It will be a busy night when we hope to see many of you. If you have not yet done so, please RSVP here.

Another feature of the quarterly newsletter will be an article featuring an alumnus or alumna of note. We will use this space to highlight alumni who have made an impact on the world. In this edition, we focus on Ilene Fish ’94, who, along with her husband, founded a school readiness and jobs program in Ethiopia that transforms the lives of women and children.

The newsletter is a work-in-progress. We would love to hear your ideas for future themes and stories. Please contact Sharon Lewis at slewis1@yu.edu.

Enjoy the new newsletter and I look forward to seeing you at the Annual Meeting on November 12th.

Warmly,
Chair, Alumni Association
