Desmond Tutu with Cardozo students
Cardozo's nationally known and comprehensive program in alternative dispute resolution is the Kukin Program for Conflict Resolution.  Since 2001, US News and World Report has ranked Cardozo's program in dispute resolution among the top ten dispute resolution programs in the country.

The Program’s mission is to develop modern day problem solvers in the legal profession who can skillfully use the many dispute resolution processes for the benefit of their clients and society.  For a brief history of the origins and accomplishments of the Program, see Crafting Solutions.

The Program includes:
An exciting array of courses with classes in negotiation, mediation, arbitration and dispute resolution processes during the semester, a mediation program in Budapest during the summer, and an intensive January program in Representation in Mediation.

Out of the classroom applied learning and scholarship in Cardozo’s Mediation Clinic and Securities Arbitration Clinic, and a variety of national and international dispute resolution skills-related competitions.

Nationally and internationally recognized faculty who, beyond the classroom, are prominent scholars and practitioners of the concepts and methods they explore with students.

The Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution, a student-run journal that publishes editions twice a year, hosts groundbreaking symposia and panels, and annually gives the International Advocate for Peace Award.  Recipients of the award include a former president, a Nobel Peace Prize winner, and prominent international dispute resolvers and problem solvers.

The Cardozo Dispute Resolution Society, a student-run organization that fosters an active community of students interested in dispute resolution by hosting panel discussions, social gatherings, and networking and informational events.

A Certificate in Dispute Resolution, awarded to J.D. students who complete coursework, writing and service requirements. A Concentration in Dispute Resolution is available for LL.M. students who complete coursework requirements.
