Professor Alex Reinert, working as co-counsel with the New York Civil Liberties Union, brought a suit against the New York Department of Corrections that resulted in new guidelines for the use of solitary confinement. 

In a sweeping agreement in which Cardozo professor Alex Reinert served as co-counsel, The New York Civil Liberties Union and the New York State Department of Community Corrections announced an end to solitary confinement as used in New York State’s prisons for youth, pregnant inmates and developmentally disabled and intellectually challenged prisoners.

Cardozo School of Law's experiential learning programs take students out of the classroom, allowing them to hone their skills in real-world settings such as the courtroom.

Cardozo Law will start 2014 with a bang, with over 250 students spending January in “law & life” intensives designed to meet the demands of the changing legal landscape. Lawyering Skills Month consists of experiences that utilize simulation and immersion programs to transform the educational process. During this time, the school becomes a workshop for law in action.
