Professor David Rudenstine's book, "The Age of Deference," was mentioned in a recent New Yorker article about whether or not the American people have any recourse when a president lies. As the article's author, Amy Davidson points out, this question has come up before. "Our courts have dealt with the prospect of dissembling and misstated motives, particularly in the area of racial discrimination," she writes, pointing to "The Age of Deference" as a source for some of this history.
