Cardozo School of Law Clinics Secure Release of Six Detained In Immigration Ban

In the days after the Trump adminstrtion issued its excecutive order on immigration, Cardozo School of Law professors and students in the Kathryn O. Greenberg Immigration Justice Clinic won the release of five of the immigrants who had been detained and faced deportation at JFK International Airport. Professor Peter Markowitz, director of the Immigration Justice Clinic, speaks about Cardozo faculty and students' role.

The Cardozo Women’s Law Initiative coordinated a bus to transport 54 Cardozo students, alumni, faculty, family and friends to the Women’s March on Washington. Students, who were able to attend free of charge thanks to generous donations by Cardozo faculty and staff, took this photo prior to their participation in the historic event.

The Morellis’ gift designates $750,000 for the Arlene and Benedict Morelli Family Scholarship Fund, which will provide financial support for deserving students for years to come. The gift also provides $200,000 to establish the Benedict Morelli Trial Team, which will expand Cardozo’s presence in national and international trial competitions and increase the number of students who can compete. $50,000 will be used to establish the Morelli Master Lecture Series, which will bring top trial lawyers to Cardozo to lecture, coach and mentor students.
