The move comes a day after Mayor Bill de Blasio visited the 10-jail lockup to announce the end of solitary confinement for 16- and 17-year-old inmates. This year, Professor Alex Reinert, along with the NYCLU, reached a settlement in a lawsuit in which the NY State Department of Community Corrections agreed to end solitary confinement in state prisons for juvenile, pregnant, and developmentally disabled or intellectually challenged prisoners.
