Many employers find it extremely helpful in establishing name recognition on campus to participate in one of the many opportunities outlined below. If you are interested in getting to know our students and introduce yourself, please contact our Recruitment Manager, David Adams, email@example.com about any of the following:
OCS is happy to publicize employers' receptions and other opportunities for diverse law students. For further information please contact Sherry-Ann Smith, Director of Career Services and Coordinator of Diversity Initiatives at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Monthly Mentor Lunch Series (throughout school year/once per month)
Throughout the school year, practicing attorneys come to campus to speak to a group of students about their practice areas in an informal brown-bag lunch setting. These lunches provide a great opportunity to educate students about specific practice areas within the firm and to help connect in a more personal way. For further information please contact Julie Anna Alvarez, Assistant Director/Alumni Outreach Coordinator at email@example.com.
Panel Discussions on Substantive Legal Issues (throughout school year)
Career Services is very involved in assisting various student groups in organizing panel discussions that focus on specific substantive legal issues. If there are attorneys at your firm interested in participating, we would be happy to make the introduction to the organizers of these events.
Practice Area Forum (late November)
In late November, a number of firms and other legal employers set up tables to meet informally with students in our third floor student lounge. Because this event is geared primarily toward 1L students to familiarize them with practice areas, it gives employers a great opportunity to start getting their names in circulation. There is no charge to participate and Cardozo provides food and refreshments. This event is always a huge draw!
Lunches/Receptions for 1L Students (Spring)
Each spring, employers come to campus to sponsor a lunch or other reception for interested 1L students. Typically, we provide each employer with an appropriate space and contact information for a suitable caterer. The employer often sends a small group of attorneys and recruitment professionals who share their firm experiences with students, with the idea of providing some insight on the employers "personality". These events have been quite successful and often create a "good buzz" about the firm. We request that you reserve as early as possible because room availability is limited.
Interviewing for the Private Sector Panel & Other Career Skills Workshops (Spring)
Career Services hosts a number of career skills building discussions and workshops for students, including, including interviewing, networking, job searching and more. We invite attorneys and/or recruitment professionals from your firm to participate in these events.
Fall Recruitment Employer Symposium (Late Spring)
All employers who plan to interview on campus in the Fall are invited each Spring to participate in this "Table Talk" setting Symposium to meet with our students.
Employer Sponsored Mock Interview Program (school year/summer)
A number of employers sponsor mock interview programs for Cardozo students. Typically, OCS assists the employer with publicity and registration. Students are then invited for mock interviews at the employer's office.
